Airbrushing fun…

It’s been a while since my last post, as I’ve been busy baking… and working on my next Cake International entry. I have really enjoyed making use of some of the new skills I learnt from the marvellous Dawn Butler of Dinkydoodle Designs on an airbrushing course in January.

Check out these before and after photos:

Rectangular cake board covered with Couture sugarpaste

I covered the cake board with normal white sugar paste (Couture brand) and marked out the floorboards with a dresden tool. I then added texture to the ‘boards’ with florist wire, and added knots and marks to the wood with the dresden tool again. Now it’s airbrush time!

I used water based paints for this – yellow/brown all over, then added shading with just brown to the edges of the floorboards and the detail. Finally I finished with a good spray of Dinkydoodle Shell & Shine spray – fantastic stuff!

I’m excited to keep working on this project in between all the orders and events I have lined up in the next few weeks… busy, busy, busy! I’ll be back with more photos soon.
